MAP Success

Today was our first day of MAP testing. Overall, it went really well!! The students did a wonderful job and all of their scores went up from the winter! YAY! On Monday we will take the Math MAP test.

Today we began an end of the year writing gift to each other. Each student is writing to their classmates about why they are a good friends, things that they are good at, and their favorite memories with each other. What I have seen so far are incredibly sweet and will be fun to look back at down the road.

We are changing the location of our end of the year showcase. I have gotten a wonderful response from families and our classroom won’t be big enough to hold everyone! We will have our showcase in the library/media center. I will send home a note as the date gets closer. If you haven’t returned your “RSVP” please remember to do so by May 28th.

I hope you have a wonderful night!

MAP Tests Begin Tomorrow (Thursday)

Good evening-
Tomorrow is our first day of MAP testing. We will take the reading portion of the test right away in the morning. Please be sure that your child gets plenty of rest and a good breakfast. The goal I set for the class is that all students meet their end of the year goal. At conferences, your student’s progress on the MAP Mountain was discussed. I am very eager to see how they do!
Tomorrow is also blue or purple for the Eat the Rainbow challenge. I forgot to send today’s picture to my email, so I will post it tomorrow. Yesterday’s picture is below.

Library books are due back to school by May 24th. We are having a school-wide competition to see who can turn in all of their books first. The first class with all books returned or paid for will get a popcorn party. Please check around the house for any library books that were checked out throughout the year. A list of your child’s missing book(s), if any, will be sent home tomorrow.

I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful weather!!!

Eat the Rainbow

Today kicked off our “Eat The Rainbow” week! Students could bring in a healthy snack that was red! Tomorrow is yellow or orange!

I hope you enjoyed your “Leading Lady”/Mother’s Day gifts! The students had so much fun making them for you.

Today we practiced and reviewed Read to Self. We practiced asking questions before, while, and after we read. Students also reviewed identifying the main idea, compound words and alphabetical order. All of these skills are assessed on the Reading MAP test, which we have on Thursday

In math, we began Unit 11. Today our lesson allowed us to practice solving number stories. A lot of the questions on the Math MAP test are story problems so we practiced finding the important parts of questions.

In Science, students finished painting their wind pictures. Tomorrow, we will begin writing YOU Poems from the information we have learned about wind.

Tomorrow is going to be a warm one!!!! Be sure to get out and enjoy the sun!
