Today was such a fun
day of learning in the classroom! In reading, students learned about plot,
practiced sight words, and learned 2 new words-generous and abundant.
In science we began
our Balance and Motion unit. We created a KWL (know, want to know, learned)
chart about balance on the Promethean. We did a bunch of balancing exercises
and watched a video about gravity. Students then used counterweights to balance
a crawfish on their finger.
In math, students
learned about points and line segments. We practiced using a straight edge to
draw line segments.
In writing, we
learned a rap about verbs then made a list of winter verbs. Each child chose a
verb and is creating a paper snow globe by writing their chosen verb on the base
and a picture of them doing that action in the “globe” part. We will be
finishing them tomorrow and hanging them up in the hallway.
Tomorrow, we will be taking our NWEA-MAP reading test. Some of the students will also be SWAT testing. Both tests give a lot of information about how your child is growing in reading. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.
